Sunsets have called me to accept endings and new beginnings; to develop a loving detachment that permits me to enjoy a moment and not hold onto it past it’s expiration date. 

Earlier this year, when I released “Golden Hour”, I was ready to quit in many aspects of my life and artistry, but received an outpouring of love, support, and affirming energy that gave me the creative courage to start again. 

In my musings about endings and new beginnings, I was reminded of something I once read. “Quitting is a fundamental part of being an artist. The only difference between an artist that quit and one that is still making art is that the latter had the courage to start again.”

My entire life has felt like a cycle of dying and being reborn, though, it wasn’t until now that I’ve attained such a peaceful perspective on that process. 

I now welcome the small deaths that occur on a day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month, and yearly basis. 

I welcome the space that is being created for experiences and connections that I’ve longed for deep in my being.

Each song on “Play This at Sunset” represents a readiness for birth in a different aspect of my existence. 

The EP also exists in company with a visual collection entitled NEARSTALGIA BAY (NBX for short). NBX is a city in the Surf Noir region. 

There, a unique phenomena occurs in which the city is bathed in an eternal sunset.

The NBX Collection will give insight into the people and places of this locale.
